Breaking The Stigma In the Sanctuary

"Stigma Grows in Silence. HEaling begins in Community"

This May, as we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, we are leaning into a vital truth:
Stigma grows in silence, but healing begins in community.

For too long, many felt forced to choose between faith and mental health—fearing that a struggle was a sign of weak spirits. At NMZ, we are breaking that silence. We believe God created your mind as intentionally as your soul; caring for one is an act of worship toward the other.
We are committed to being a space where:

Honesty is Honored
It’s okay not to be okay. Struggles like anxiety or depression aren't obstacles to God’s love—they are where His grace meets us most deeply.

Support is Holistic
We embrace the "both/and." We believe in the power of prayer and therapy, the comfort of Scripture and medicine.

Isolation Ends
Stigma loses its power the moment we realize we aren’t walking this path alone. By sharing our stories, we tear down the walls of silence and build a bridge to healing—together.

"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

Mental Health Awareness Month provides a vital opportunity to stand with your community and demonstrate that no one has to struggle alone.

This year, the theme for NAMI’s 2026 Mental Health Awareness Month invites everyone to join in speaking up against mental health stigma.

At NMZ, we are proud to support this mission by breaking the silence within our own walls. We believe that caring for your mental health is an act of worship, and we invite you to take that step with us.
If you need to talk, the 988 Lifeline is here.
The Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. Call or text 988 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.
